SEMANTICO-SYNTACTIC RELATIONSHIPS IN MACQUARRIE’S STATEMENTS
Abstract
This paper describes the semantic and syntaxtic aspects in Macquarrie’s statements as manifested in his book of Principles of Christian Theology. Two questions are to be answered concerning the aspects. The result of the analysis shows that most statements are manifested in hypotatic construction. Besides, compound complex sentences occupy the top rank, meaning that they are of high frequency of occurence, and adjective clauses are of high frequency of use. This finding contributes to the design of learning materials in English classes.
Key words: semantico-syntactic, rela-tionships, statements
