MENUJU TEOLOGI ANTI-KORUPSI: REFLEKSI TERHADAP NARASI KEJADIAN 3:1-8

Viktor Christanto

Abstract

Corruption is an epidemic, systemic, and persistent problem in many countries including Indonesia. Despite news about political corruption that has dominated Indonesia’s media recently, most people agreed that significant improvement has been achieved; even though corruption is still prevalent. In the present article, I discuss some progress to curb corruption by some local governments in Indonesia. These efforts may be copied by other cities too in order to reduce the impact of corruption and to improve public service and transparency. Another possible approach to reduce the desire for corruption is to formulate a theology of anti-corruption. Since most of Indonesia’s people belong to religious people, then a theology-based ethics is likely to be considered seriously by most of Indonesia’s people rather than a philosophical-based ethics which often lack moral basis. It is my hope that a more realistic theology of anti-corruption will be developed in the near future, and that it can be promoted by many spiritual and religious leaders in Indonesia.
